Liquid Supplement Manufacturing Lead Times and Approvals
A lead-time proposal needs a defined starting point. Ask which formula, pack and approvals the schedule assumes before comparing dates from different suppliers. The checklist below tracks dependencies; it does not promise a standard production duration.
1. Ask what starts the production clock
Identify whether the quoted duration starts after formula approval, sample acceptance, artwork approval, payment, packaging receipt or another agreed milestone. Separate development work from production scheduling and distinguish dispatch from delivery.
2. Track each dependency against the same brief
| Milestone | Evidence to attach | Question before setting the next date |
|---|---|---|
| Formula and serving agreed | Specification revision and open questions | Is further feasibility work required? |
| Sample decision recorded | Sample identity, observations and approval conditions | Are conditions still open? |
| Packaging approved | Bottle, dispenser, label and carton revisions | Are component commitments confirmed? |
| Materials available | Supplier confirmations and quantities | Are any substitutions or shortages expected? |
| Production slot agreed | Written schedule and prerequisites | What changes would require rescheduling? |
| Checks and disposition complete | Agreed records and batch decision | Who authorizes dispatch? |
| Dispatch and delivery planned | Delivery terms, destination and documents | What transport and import responsibilities remain? |
3. Keep a change log with the schedule
Record the date, changed requirement, responsible person and revised milestone whenever the formula, bottle or artwork changes. Ask whether the change requires new samples or additional tests. A later approval should reference the revision that production will actually use.
For a launch plan, show unresolved dates as unresolved. Do not backfill a fixed number of days just to complete a chart. Agree how delays, partial availability and changes to the order will be communicated.
