Choosing a Sports Nutrition Supplier: Product, Evidence and Order Review
A manufacturing capability list alone does not establish that the proposed formula and programme obligations can be supported.
Use a product-specific supplier meeting agenda
| Decision | Information to request | How to use the answer |
|---|---|---|
| Channel | Customer requirements and any named certification programme | Verify the exact listing or evidence expected. |
| Format | Powder, capsule, gummy, liquid or another presentation | Ask process questions specific to the chosen format. |
| Sample | Formula revision, use conditions and evaluation objective | Separate taste preference from analytical or programme review. |
| Quality | Proposed methods, reports and change responsibilities | Identify scope beyond routine manufacturing checks. |
| Offer | Quantity, component commitments, development and delivery | Resolve differences before choosing on price. |
Prepare a supplier meeting around the intended channel
Illustrative purchasing exercise, not a customer case, test result or quotation.
A sports product for a general retail channel and one intended for a programme with specific certification requirements may need different purchasing evidence. Make that requirement explicit before comparing suppliers.
- Product: Format, ingredients and proposed serving to review.
- Channel: Named scheme or customer requirement, if any, and how its scope is verified.
- Proposal: Development work, product records and supply commitments included in the offer.
Decision output: A supplier’s general capabilities list does not demonstrate programme coverage for the proposed product. Record an unresolved requirement instead of describing it as already certified.
Where a sports programme matters, verify the official record and obligations for the actual product. NSF’s programme overview is one example of what to investigate, not a statement that any supplier listed here holds it. Ask how formula, material or site changes will be handled. Link the final decision to the product brief and unresolved items from the meeting.
